The valley of Kashmir is known all over the world for its beauty and charm. The Kashmir valley is situated about 300 km. from Jammu across forested ravines and steep mountain passes. The emerald valley of Kashmir is cradled in the Himalayas, under the crystal blue skies, against the background of snow-capped mountains. It is a magic land of silvery streams, rivers, fresh water lakes, pine, deodar and chinar forests, snow clad mountains, sparkling waterfalls, shikaras, green meadows and grassy slopes full of flowers of vibrant colours. It is an oval plateau over 5000 feet high and framed by three Himalayan ranges? the Karakoram, Zanskar and PirPanjal. Kashmir covers an area of 222,236 square kms and is often referred as the 'Switzerland of the East'. It is the land of bewitching beauty with exotic fruits, flora and flowers. Srinagar, the capital of Kasmir is nestled amidst the huge lakes, meadows and unique floating gardens in the valley. The state of Kashmir is mainly dominated by the Muslims and Kashmiris. PanditJawaharLal Nehru also said about Kashmir that is there is a paradise on the earth, it is this, it is this. Kashmiri, Dogri and Urdu are the main languages which are spoken here. The best time to visit Kashmir is during summers.
 
 

Gulmarg

Gulmarg, also known as heartland of winter sports in India has been rated by CNN International as Asia's seventh best ski destination. In the winter, the diverse and extreme terrain combines with torrential snowfall to create a snow destination, the best in the world. Gulmarg attracts outdoor sports fanatics with its world class golfing, trekking, horse riding, water skiing, and fishing. Gulmergcertainlty is the heartland of winter sports in India.
 
 

Pahalgam

Pahalgam is a popular tourist destination in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Pahalgam was once a tourist attraction and a favourite place for shooting of Bollywood films, and is still a health resort. The area holds a rich cover of vegetation, the dominant forest consisting of conifers. Pahalgam is also associated with the annual AmarnathYatra as 16 km from Pahalgam, is the starting point of the yatra that takes place every year in the month of Sawan.
 
 

Sonmarg

Sonmarg or Sonamarg is a town of Jammu and Kashmir state of India. Situated at 87 km from Srinagar, it is a popular tourist destination.

Sonamarg, at an altitude of 3,000 metres above sea level, 87 km north-east of Srinagar. The drive to Sonamargh is though yet another spectacular facet of country side in Kashmir, this time its the Sindh nallah. The Sindh nallah is the largest tributary of the Indus river in the valley of Kashmir. It is upwards of sixty miles long, and valley and deep rock-girt gorge to open grassy meadow land and village-dotted slopes.
 
 

Yusmarg

Yusmarg Kashmir Yusmarg is a small meadow, set in the heart of the mountains in the south west of Srinagar, at a distance of 32 Kms. It can be reached via Nagam and Tsar. The road is motorable. Yusmarg is an ideal picnic spot. Nilnaga medium sized spring with blue water and deep rooted weeds, may be visited. From Yusmarg short treks can be made to ChittaPathar. Smaller mountains like Twin peaks (point of departure ChashmaShahi) and Mahadiv approximately 4000 M ( point of departure Harwan) can be climbed, including the descent by people in good condition in one day. The valley is surrounded on all sides by a chain of mountains which range from 4000 M to 5000 M, Sunset peak 4745 M, Tata Kutti 4725 M and so on.
